EIBF, Charlotte Square, Edinburgh

For those of you out there paying attention, Chris Priestley is one of the finest literary horror writers of recent times. It just so happens his books are sold in the teen/YA section of bookstores. Some attempt by his publisher, Bloomsbury, has been made to crossover his appeal into the mainstream adult horror category, by re-releasing his books with new jackets. For the most part, this is a good thing.

Sadly though, the reissues of Chris’ Tales of Terror trilogy  do not feature the superbly atmospheric artwork of David Roberts. An oversight, for sure. What, adults don’t like illustrations? Phhttp.

Anyway, this supremely talented scribe is appearing at the Edinburgh International Book Festival this Sunday afternoon (details above) to discuss Mister Creecher, his ode to Frankenstein.

The good news is when I enquired about ticket sales, on Wednesday just gone, the box office still had some left. It would be a crime if his event isn’t near-to-full, so budge your butts along to see Chris Priestley in person. You will not regret it.

Mister Creecher is out now in hardback, at £10.99. Sniff around online for a bargain.
